Biography

I am committed to helping clients work with difficult thoughts and emotions in ways that foster flexibility and greater ease in living.

My work draws from a variety of empirically based approaches, with an emphasis on mindfulness and self-compassion, and rooted in curiosity and respect. I particularly enjoy working with people around anxiety and stress, including worry that is difficult to manage, social anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, work stress, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Related therapy also addresses issues of self-care, effective communication, and healthy boundaries.

I would describe my approach to therapy as warm and collaborative. My goal is for therapist and client to be an active team in increasing awareness of patterns and behaviors, and creating a therapeutic plan to address specific goals that are meaningful and important to you. Throughout the process, I encourage self-compassion and acceptance of challenging thoughts and feelings, bringing a spirit of curiosity, creativity, and even playfulness (when appropriate) to the work.

Treatment is tailored to the individual, within a safe and supportive environment. I seek to build a trusting relationship as a foundation for growth, and incorporate principles and techniques from evidence-based treatment modalities, including:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Mindful Self-Compassion Practice
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
